21 Day Breakthrough Fast – No Other Way

It is only natural for us to look for the easier and quicker way to accomplish something. That is wise and creates more productivity. There are times when there is not an easier or quicker way. In Mark 9 a man brought his son to Jesus’ disciples so they could pray for the boy, heal and deliver him. They couldn’t get the breakthrough for that family.  When Jesus arrived He spoke of their little faith, told the father if he could believe that all things were possible and delivered the boy. In his case there were evil spirits causing the problem and Jesus cast them out.

The disciples later asked Jesus why they weren’t able to help the boy and Jesus gave them and us a huge insight; “This kind comes not out but by prayer and fasting.” Sometimes we need more wisdom, other times we need someone to agree with us in prayer but there are times when nothing will substitute for prayer and fasting. One more sermon won’t do the trick, another worship song won’t provide the breakthrough, someone laying hands on us in faith can’t get the job done … we need to fast and pray!

I love the father’s statement to Jesus, “I believe, help my unbelief.” Jesus had just told him all things are possible if he could believe. Fasting helps us believe.  Fastiing increases our faith. Fasting makes things possible that otherwise would not be possible. Sometimes there is no other way. Thank God for fasting!
